Don’t wait for Valentines Day to get connected! Stay connected daily.

Last month I talked about friendship being the most important key to couples relationship success and how checking in with each other every day is a vital part of nurturing your couple bond.

Studies show that successful couples have a habit of at least 5 positive interactions to every negative one. This of course increases goodwill and the puts deposits in your “emotional/love bank account.” When it’s full, everything goes better – issues can be discussed productively and problems just don’t seem to be such a big deal. The Daily Check-In (DCI) exercise virtually guarantees that your love bank account stays in the black.  You’ll probably never need couples counselling if you do this one exercise everyday!

Given our busy, “on-line” oriented lifestyles, this ritual is best done BY EMAIL – it takes just a few minutes.  Remember to do it daily and watch what happens…

1. One thing you did (or said) recently that I appreciated…

2. One recent moment when I felt extra positive about you or about our relationship…

3. Here are some of the main things occupying my mind today (or the main things I’ll be doing today)…

4. One small thing I did recently that I hope made you feel at least a little bit cared for…
